Yesterday we celebrated our incredible custodians who keep our school clean, safe, and welcoming every single day. Their hard work often happens behind the scenes, but it makes a huge difference for our students, staff, and families.
Thank you for all you do to care for our school community—you are truly the heart of our building!

Ms. Washington's 2nd grade class worked in collaborative groups for their upcoming Culminating Writing Task on Character's Facing Challenges this week.

Our students had a blast practicing addition within 20! They learned how to decompose numbers to make 10, then created their own equations to solve. Way to go, mathematicians!

Mrs. Holley’s 2nd graders used base ten blocks to tackle 2-digit addition problems. Hands-on learning makes math click!

Decatur County Schools will be closed from 10/8/25 - 10/10/25 for Fall Break.

To close Unit 4 in math, Mrs. Avery's second graders worked collaboratively to solve a variety of word problems.

Mrs. Wynn's class engaged in collaborative group work to create and solve one- and two-step word problems. This activity served as a valuable review in preparation for their Reveal Math Unit Assessment.

Don't forget! Tomorrow is picture day.

Safety Awareness Month Message:
September is recognized across the state of Georgia as Safety Awareness Month. During this time, we are conducting intruder, lockdown and other safety drills on our school campuses. In Decatur County Schools, we take this opportunity to educate and equip our students to respond quickly and safely to any and all emergency situations. Safety is and will always be our number one priority in Decatur County Schools.

Monday we celebrated Georgia Reads Day in the library! Students enjoyed listening to The Magician’s Hat by Georgia native and Super Bowl Champion, Malcolm Mitchell—a story all about the magic of books and how they can inspire dreams.
After the story, our students tapped into their creativity by designing their own book covers that showed what they want to do or be when they grow up. From future teachers and athletes to community helpers and artists, their imaginations were shining bright!
We are so proud of their big dreams and the stories they are beginning to write for their own futures.

These students had perfect attendance for August. Thanks for showing up everyday ready to learn. And a huge THANK YOU to our amazing parents and families! Getting to school every day takes teamwork, and we appreciate your support in making sure our students are here, learning, and growing!

Our Cookie Dough fundraiser has been extended until September 26th.

We are so proud of all our Kindergarten engineers. Creativity, critical thinking, and collaboration were on full display during the STEAM Kindergarten paper chain challenge! Students worked in teams using a single piece of paper, scissors, glue, and tape to build the longest paper chain. Their planning and problem-solving skills were incredible! Congratulations to Mrs. Strickland’s students for building the longest paper chain which measured a total of 47 feet!

Our Pre-K students had the sweetest time celebrating Grandparents Day! It was such a joy to see the excitement on the children’s faces as they welcomed their loved ones into the school. We are so thankful for the important role grandparents play in our students’ lives.
